Background

One evening, after enjoying an iced green tea at 10 pm at my favorite local coffee shop, Stomping Grounds, I found myself unable to sleep. Fortunatly the Intarweb was created, giving me something with which to kill time. I found myself reading VAX/VMS on Linux using SIMH. Previously that evening, a co-worker sent me an e-mail to bring back the stack of his Lnx-BBC cd's that I had gathered from the last AmesFUG Install Fest.

Let me sprinkle you with fairy dust.

The two ideas merged. One could run SIMH from a lnx-bbc disk. The only 'volitile' data would be the SIMH disk image. So you could either:

Make an incredibly tiny disk image, barf it into a ramdisk, and use that as your SIMH disk image (useful for proof-of-concept)
(das ubercool way) Use TAP or similar to create a virtual ethernet between the lnx-bbc-simh machine and a network somewhere with a Real Vax(TM) (or other SIMH VMS system) and cluster boot the sucker.
